Hey earth… i have been slacking in the blogging department this month… while i was preparing for my 2 week vacation in the beautiful Cape of Cod, i had no down time at work to post about music or games or papyrus and such… so although today is just an post to say im back and posts will follow… i am back and there will be posts to follow…

Papyrus sucks… it was on 12 out of 13 restaurants that i visited in the Cape… shame on you Oceanview… SHAME!!!

Corn and Crows

WOW… what a ridiculous weekend for the autonomous robotiums that is metal man kx… First off i got yelled at by a woman who apparently drove 12 miles to my Stop and Shop for corn… the price was 10 for like something that was not that cheep by regular price… i tell her that we have to get it of the truck and that hadn’t even pulled up to our unloading dock yet… she goes on a rant about how long of a drive she had to partake in order to get the corn and we dont even have it… well you old hag… do you have a telephone like all the rest of the 6.7 billion inhabitants of this world… no!?!?! so you use smoke signals and carrier pigeons to pay your bills and haggle your son about who won on Jeopardy last night??? i go check and thank go the truck was there… the problem was there was 7 pallets of product ahead of the corn… i run out to tell her that and she gives more crap about “well… how long is THAT going take?”… i rush back to the railer and pull the pallet and get to the one with the corn… on OF COURSE is on the bottom underneath 500 pounds of seafood… so rip a case out… throw it (literally) into a extra shopping carriage and wheel it out to her… by happenstance and very serendipitous my mom was in the store and was there… i give the cart to the lady say sorry about the wait and go talk to my mom… do you now what happened then… the woman comes and tapped me on the shoulder and says… “I wanted the PACKAGED corn… not the loose corn!” so i tell her that she asked for fresh corn… not the package corn… so she tells me “I assumed that you knew what i meant when i said i wanted corn…

*EDIT 9/5/09* This where i originally flipped out and re told the expletives that were sprang forth from the deepest darkest bowls of my blacked soul… but some changes of heart and my editor( not really but he helps me out with stuff now and again) made me change y mind and not write a bunch of terrible swear words (im sorry mom and nanna)

the ending to the story is that i went through hell and back to make this silly hag happy… for $11.10 an hour i should have spit on her corn and shover her in her grave… and then in papyrus, inscribe on her tomb stone… “here lies some old crow that deserved less than a spoon full of that white stuff that forms in the corner of your mouth when your thirsty”…

But i didn’t… i put a smile on my face…. gave her the packages of corn and watched as she walked out of the department… *whew… thanks for that guys… i fell a lot better about the situation now that it has been lifted off my shoulders… god speed to those of us who work in the customer satisfaction business… because you know as well as Ben Affleck knows… “the customer is always and ASSHOLE!”

and papyrus is god awful… damn you Joss Whedon and your Serenity title…

p.s. i had written in the begging “first off”… well after that story im to tired to do anything more… so im sorry for being misleading on that part…

The Flow of time…

Ok not really but it is time for some written genius to flow from the cavernous nexus of electrical signals and blood vessels that is my noggin of conscience…

hello planet 3 and how ya felling on this wonderful day… being a creative mind it is sometimes difficult to consistently be working on projects and have that creative juice ever presence in a big ass glass stein adorned with vistas of pac man and the foul ghosts that torment his soul(btw check out this LINK!)… so what should one do when the glass is emptie… do what i do… set up a sytem to slowly get more and more ideas into your cranium…

STEP 1!: First have a series of websites that are inspiring to you or website you visit often that give you information that gets you creative… the ones that i always view when my creative side needs a kick in the burro… i check a few heavy metal sights… metal storm, or metal reviews and catch up on my fav bands or read some reviews and listen to new music… i check faliblog.org always, because if you cant laugh then your as useless as a down jacket in the middle of summer… while on the SUN!… then i head over to ign to get my movie and gaming news… then i hit facebook to see what my pals and designer friends/professors are up to… and finally i hit up the blog scene… especially yours truly because no has even read this yet and my own writing make me laugh… and also i love typography because they inspire me as a visual creative being…

Step 2!: If it is allowed at your place of business or in the class room… get a unreasonably big set of headphones and find some music that just hits the right way… not the way that Bruce Lee would hit you or even Bruce Willis for that matter but the way Marilyn Monroe would hit you with a blown kiss from across the room… listen to something that makes you fell a little better and able to step put of your body for a while.. my personal suggestions would be Ayreon… its space/metal/love/fantasy/electronica/some mistral/epic science fiction metal opera… Dream Theater (like you dont know who they are)… Mars Volta… just because its super trippy… and Dredg… its like pop and indie rock for people who hate pop and indie rock…

Step 3!: The final is to do something different then what your use to doing… creatively speaking… example… PROFESSOR!!! LIGHTS!!! right now im making custom icons for and iphone app im helping design… i then needed to stop on those and work on a previous project… i was fine to do it but it kind of killed my flow… it was like my gloss contour going from ring to linear except the curve made a right angle on the left… in other words it declined… so what was i to do… i did the basic work for the project but now i felt a little lost and didnt know what to do… because i create digital peices on a dail basis i did something that i normall wouldn’t do… i did 2 differtn things actually… the first is i sketched… i broke out Ye old sketch book… actually called ye old sketch book…

and inside ye old sketch book i sketched… you know stuff like guns and dragons depictions of metal and the love of epic and hand done typography… the second other form of art making that i partook in was what your reading right now… after i blog in the fasion that i do… you know ranting/bitching/moaning/swearing/not-swearing/being incoherent/spelling stuff right/spelling stuff wrong… if fell inspired to do something creative…

If this helped then yay… if not… you still read it so i win no matter what you say… long live the fantasy… and fellow warriors of Design… fight papyrus!!!

Sorry i have been absent on the scene of blog land USA… When sitting at home i would rather play around in photoshop, play guitar or videogames… you know the stuff one does when trying to avoid emails from your boss or checking online sources for when the hell there gonna release a trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar (not the show on wind bending and mixed marital arts… and magic) or you know… blogging… So while avoiding said computing tragedies… your infamous (and defiantly not famous) writer has decide to jump into the perspective of a surviver of nuclear fallout in the award wining FPS/RPG/NonMMO/ available for PS3/XBOX360/PC game… Fallout 3…

The basic story is lil’ boys dad is all like “i love you but im gone” and your all like “DADDY!?!?!” but not like Anakin Skywalker when he becomes Darth Vader in Episode 3 and cries like a “little (expletive deleted) with a skinned knee”(Dogma, Smith, Kevin)… so stuff goes bad and you up and leave your future/retro fallout home and wonder into the Wastelands of post-apocalyptic Washington , DC…

Gameplay wise its standard and not so standard… the standard is you kill bad guys if your good, or kill good and bad guys if your bad… collect stuff and sell stuff, finds stuff, make stuff, shoot stuff and blow stuff up… the Not-so-standard stuff is in the combat… one could go through the entire game playing like a typical FPS… which would be beyond boring… or you could us the V.A.T.S. system… what V.A.T.S. allows you to do is imagine the Matrix/Max Payne/George Ramero combined into one and thats the out come… + stats… you can individually target body parts of what ever creature your fighting… the interface includes the % hit and possible damage done to target… the Romero aspect is dependent on a critical hits (with the addition of the perk Bloody Mess… my description cannot do the games own justice so here LINK!) in short… you crit… BLAMO!!! every pixilated orifice explodes with gore, parts and horrible M rated awesomeness…

So if this was a review… which it kind of is… i would say it get a thumbs up out of 4 finger nails and a bucket of cheese… thats going to be a new rating system… i will devise it… it will the be the rating standard of the future… so SCREW you ESRB… im calling you out… and to HELL with stars or numbers… F THAT… i say… its gonna be finger nails and cheese…

Anyway… im glad to have shared with you my feelings of a great game by a great studio (Bethesda im sorry for no love or props in the intro… oblivion changed my life) so go buy it and stay tuned for more stuff about stuff… much love… ROBOT KWmetal man…

and Papyrus was not used in the making of Fallout… at least to my knowledge… and if so… then ill have word with that dude or woman… because ladies can do things… ok that may have came out sexiest… so i apologize right now… women are powerful and mysteriouse creatures that men both love and fear and we need to repsect them… no im seriouse if you dont respect women your about as usless and a .ppt done in Papyrus…

Audio Fixation

Gooday Planet X… KW metal man here with a first for you unfamiliar to me and my previous blogs on tunes… Im sitting in my cubical (kind of) working on a prototype of a website that will change EVERYTHING U KNOW… not really but its work and i get payed so what ev… i was perusing my massive library of music to find that wonderful band that will help me motivate my creative juices to flow down the proverbial river of making stuff… i have no idea if any of that makes sense but who cares…

Whilst scrutinizing my laundry list of audio formated files… i stumbled upon a “band” that i have consistently avoided due to me just avoiding them… no reason that is beyond reason if you would… any way this is Tobais Sammet’s( the frontman of Edguy) side project Avantasia… its symphonic/power metal to boot… and if you have no idea what any of those words mean please leave the internet… anyway Avantasia is a a concept “band” about fantasy and space and love and freedom, all the things that power metal power metal…

The problem, if it is a problem, is that i have been listing to only one of the songs off of an EP and one song only… On the EP Lost in Space the opening track is Lost in Space… also it is the closing track on The Scarecrow which is the new album out now(don’t ask why i plug things… im not trying to hawk anything i swear)

So why the hell do i keep playing this song over and over (play count is now at 37)… well for one thing im too lazy to try and come up with a better song right now… secondly because… by GOD is the chorus the most beautiful/catchy/whimsical thing i have heard in many a year… its like if love was personified as an explosion of joy in the deepest parts of space that are undiscovered yet only hidden the hearts of men… if your in dire need of something that isn’t to ridiculously different but beautiful and approachable… listen to this song… well enough of me going of about nothing that is important (not to some) im off to design…

Hello great big blue… metal manic KW is here for the first amazing rant… I have been out of school for about 3 months and trying to pave my way to the freedom of school loans a bye-bye… Here at my place of business i create prototypes of web sites and work hand in hand with code monkeys (is that PC?) to make my pretty picture come to fruition… but this part is not what this blog-o-matic post is about… its about the experience of being in the creative work force and dealing with the one thing that school had lacking (for the most part) CLIENTS!!!

The interaction between creative mind and someone who has a vision and only a vision can be both ultimately rewarding, or it can suck the true essence of creativity out of one who is trained and adamant in thinking/looking/acting creative… so far in the month and 1/2 i have been working i have bombarded with both sides of this equation… my advice to those entering (because all the old guys & girls have been doing this a hole helluva lot longer than i have)… i say deal with it… do you get a paycheck each week, or by week weekly which is the same as 1/2 monthly or if you really want weekly times 2 unless you make your own hours or have a sick day… if you said yes to any of this unreasonably long list of payment options then you have step one covered… do you like what you do… not the clients but the fact that you can create things each and every day… if that too is a yes the hurray 4 u… the final this is do you go home and jump on xbox live and kick the living crap out of little kids in their parents basement on Call of Duty:WAW (tm to activition and tryarch… keep up the great work… Shi No Numa Zombies is super awesome)… or yell at your little puppy or kitty because your so MAD at what happened at work… it easy, DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT… sorry caps got stuck… its ok to leave the office mad… but take a drive/walk/run and cool off and tell yourself this “its cool man, let work stay at work” (me) and focuse on the problems of your home life at home… combining the two will tear your soul apart…

This is my first blog… on wordpress that is… well to start off i am a Graphic Designer or a Visual Communicator if you want… im currently working at a small but busy software developer in New Haven , Ct… i love metal,, my fiance and america too… well i might have lied on that last part… the US has been pissing me off lately but thats just because popular television and music of the US make me cringe/puke/wanna die and “all sortsa mean nasty things”(Arlo Guthrie)… but due to the nature of blogs (whatever that means) SUBJECT first then all the txt of me complaining of praising the current status of the current status… So stay tuned for my updates (and i will have them) and read read read…
